Are you ready to meet the King?
Are we in a ready state?
Life has been very interesting up to this point-many of us have been through the fire, some through the flood. Sufficiently to say, many will even testify that they have been through hell and back this year but they made it. I am even more convinced within my heart that it is time to be ready. Are you ready to go home? Are you ready to meet the King? This rhetoric requires a sincere reflection on the life we have lived.
Qualifications necessary to meet the King
Our Lord and King are not impressed by who we think we are, who we think we know, the connections we may have or the people we have influenced; the wealth we may have accumulated among the other things that we believe will take us to heaven. Psalm 15 and 24 provided the criteria for meeting the King:Psalm 15: 1-5V. 1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?V.2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth inhis heart.V. 3 He that backbite not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.V. 4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his hurt, and changeth not.V. 5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.Psalm 24: 3-5V. 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?V. 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.V.5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. What are the verses saying? We have been distracted for years trying to get saved by ourselves and that is not the principle of the Kingdom of God. What will? Walking in righteousness, speaking the truth from our hearts, a deceptive nature will get us nowhere; loving our neighbour as we do ourselves and without slandering each other (which we have perfected the art), honouring those who serve God, lending money without exorbitant interest; having a clean and pure heart, and refusing to worship idols. These are the things that impress God.After all, we have been through, let us assess ourselves and be ready to meet the KING!
