Life is the Greatest Teacher

Image
The Greatest Faculty is the Faculty of Life   “The greatest faculty is the faculty of life.” This is the audible phrase that I heard while waking up this morning. As I ponder, the following thoughts came to mind. There are some things you cannot learn in school; there are some things you cannot learn  from others. There are some things you will have to learn based on your experiences. There are some facets of life that no one will be willing to teach you; you will just have to learn it on your own. It is not that others have not walked the path, it is not that others do not know, it’s simply the fact that they do not know how to help, and it is beyond their scope. Hold on to the experiences you have had and the encounters you are having. There is nothing new under the sun. Others have been where you are and have survived; you too will survive. Your current place or state is not your final destination, you will overcome! Some of us will go through different seasons of ou...

Walk in the Light

Image
Walk in the Light If you walk when the light is on, then you can find your way but if you try to move about in a dark room then there will be obstructions and one may stumble. Walking in the light in this context is walking as Jesus did. Walking here speaks to one’s lifestyle or behaviour. Jesus did not come to just talk; he came to walk with us, that is, to show us the way. Therefore, walking as Jesus did will require us to follow his example, to live according to his teachings, trust in him, and obey his words. How are we expected to walk in the light according to scripture?           Acknowledge that we have the propensity to sin but if we confess then the God of all grace will forgive us . Hence, we move from a place of darkness to light. For instance, if we steal then we are at a place of darkness but if we seek forgiveness then the darkness is removed and light comes once again as our conscience becomes clear.         ...

Where is your heart and treasure?

Image
Where is your heart & treasure?   We have always been misguided into thinking that amassing wealth, properties (material possession) will determine our eternal hope. We must work hard to ensure our families are comfortable; necessities catered for and left with a surplus for emergencies. However, we have long thought this was all there is to life. There are three parts of man-spirit, soul and body (Thess. 5:23). It is with our bodies through its five senses that we interact with the things of the material world. Our soul then is where we experience things in the psychological real m . Our soul is composed of our mind, which enables us to think, reason, and remember. Our mind, emotion and will make up our soul. There is a part of us that is deeper than our soul and that is our spirit. It is by our spirit that we contact the spiritual realm. It is through our spirit that God is made real to us and the avenue through which we truly worship Him. "...and they that worship...

Generational wealth is biblical...stop hating on it!

Image
Leaving an inheritance is the definition of true care.  We are in the age when people speak about money, wealth, or having the finer things of life, they are frowned upon. In all we seek to achieve, our highest aim should always be to leave a mark, a legacy from which those after us can benefit. It is not always selfish ambitions. Also, I am in no way projecting that this can only be done through financial means. Take a few minutes to assess your life, can you safely say you have built a legacy that your children or children's children can inherit? Some of us may not be able to answer confidently. Many of us have just been working for our ends, our joy, or seeming satisfaction. Shape your efforts in such a way where your labour will not be in vain. What are generational wealth and its biggest misconception?  Generational wealth is often referred to as the transference or passing down of assets from one generation to the next. The business-minded will tell you that assets are b...

Seven ways to distinguish yourself

Image
Seven ways to distinguish yourself   This post is inspired by the Bible story of Daniel in the Lion's Den (Daniel 6). However, when I surveyed the story I saw more than that and my eyes were fixed immediately on the character of Daniel and who he was. I realized that this man was peculiar. We too are called to be like Daniel. Daniel was in an unpleasant situation as the people who should know better plotted against him. Daniel demonstrated nothing less than distinction and this is what God expects of us regardless of our circumstance. I Peter 2:9 says “b ut you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” God expects you and I to live a life that exemplifies who he is. It is based on observation of Daniel’s lifestyle I came up with the seven ways: In order to distinguish ourselves we must: ·  We must have unquestionab...

The importance of trusting God

Image
Trust  God We have come to the point where we downplay and blatantly ignore the importance of putting our trust in God. God has been so good to us, we cannot complain. Had it not been for him, many of us can testify that our existence would have already ended. Also, many of us can attest that the struggles- heartache, depression, ridicule and stress we overcame were as a result of our trust in God. Now that we have overcome, why don’t we put into practice what we learnt under the strenuous circumstance? Trust in God is one of the pillars on which we live a fulfilled life . We are living in a time where if we do not trust in the Lord our God, then our efforts will be in vain. Why is trust in God still important? 1.  There is a blessing attached to trusting in God : “ Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but...

Offer right sacrifices

Image
Offer right sacrifices It is time we offer right sacrifices to God. God is not pleased with how we treat him. We have placed him second; we have removed him from our main agendas and hardly make time to entertain him. God does not delight in the way we have been treating him. He never slacks concerning his promises; never fails to protect us and uphold us with his mighty strong arms. It is He who has helped us on our toughest journeys so we can truly shine like the gems we are today. God deserves better! For all he has done, we need to live our lives devoted to thanksgiving, prayer, time in the word (scriptures) as well as time witnessing to others about his unwavering goodness. Please consider: ·  When was the last time you used your gifting, talents, and abilities to glorify him? We have gotten so ‘accustomed’ to the praise of men that we have forgotten the source. ·  When was the last time you took a Sabbatical from your daily rigours to spend quality time talking w...
